The Purpose

 

Esoteric

 

An esoteric school aligned with the One Fundamental School in Shamballa , whose head is the Master Morya.

The school is designed along the lines laid out by the Master DK in Letters on Occult Meditation. It is intended to accelerate soul unfoldment, prepare disciples for initiation and to develop the intuition and the will.

The energies the school works with most closely are:

A triangle consisting of the first, second and seventh rays

The Gemini soul  and the Virgo personality of NZ linked with the Virgo soul of Australia. Esoteric healing and the etheric body are emerging as an important focus.

The planet Uranus.

 

It is envisaged that the school will be surrounded and supported by a community

of those committed to  the principles of the Ageless Wisdom.

The community will be those who are ‘living the life’ and will be able to offer their skills and experience to the students and, in some cases to the public.

 

Exoteric

 

Highden is

 

An educational centre and community designed to train future leaders through an emphasis upon meditation, philosophical study and a practical life of service.

 

 

The Principles

 

Freedom

 

This principle lies at the heart of the school and is emergent in the life of humanity . Essentially it is the principle that educated,  soul inspired human beings will naturally and eventually choose the greatest good. This is a direct consequence and demonstration  of our essential divinity. The result of this principle in operation is an unshakeable faith in humanity through identification with the one life that pervades all forms.

Life - Sacrifice

 

This principle is about making our lives sacred through the conscious, freely chosen

and willful surrender of time, money, thought and creative action to the highest good we can appreciate and are capable of achieving. The result of this principle

in operation is a leveraged and commeasured use of all resources.

 

 Love – Right Relationship

 

This principle asserts our essential interdependence and common unity. It requires a deepening of our capacity to work with difference and the commitment to expanding our consciousness so that it can encompass wider and wider wholes.

The result of this principle in operation is the emergence of right relationship

 

Light – Creative Living

 

This principle concerns the creative life of the soul. It requires that we ‘stand in our own light’, connected with, and expressive of, our unique soul gifts. The result of this principle in action is the emergence of intelligent creative activity and the ‘skillful will’ which brings to full flower the potentials of the individual and the group.

 

Distinctions

 

Highden Is

 

A place where the principles are held  sacred but the structures that embody them are not. The rules and the practices can change rapidly as new and improved ways of implementing the principles are discovered and employed. Everybody is expected to demonstrate initiative in this process.

 

Highden is not

 

A retreat centre. We are not retreating from the world. We are advancing in a different direction!

 

Highden is

 

A place where all genuine paths to spirit are recognised, and a particular tradition is taught and practised within the meditative and teaching life of the centre. That tradition is based on the Theosophical stream and the teachings of the Tibetan Master DK as set out in the 24 books of Esoteric Philosophy by AA Bailey.  We consider these teachings a significant and timely gift to humanity. We also recognise that any teachings are a means to contact and express the One Life that lies behind them - the same spiritual source behind all paths which we collectively call ‘The Ageless Wisdom’

 

Highden is not

 

A place to come for personal growth and healing as a primary aim.  Personal growth and healing occurs here as a by-product of our focus on meditation, study and service.

 

Highden is

 

A place that will  encourage you to use yourself up in a worthwhile purpose. It is a place where you may discover and surpass  your limits  to giving -  on all levels.

 

Highden is not

 

A democracy. It is a place where the principles and practices of spiritual hierarchy are explored and lived in a practical way. Each individual has authority according to their commeasured capacity to take responsibility for the principles and purposes at the core of the centre.

 

Highden is

 

A place where alignment with the soul, in an individual and group sense is encouraged, practised and expected.

 

Highden is not

 

For everybody. Or even for many. It for initiates, disciples and those in training for discipleship and initiation.

 

Highden is

 

A challenge. Everyday.

 A place of struggle and victory. A place, ultimately,  of hope for humanity.

 

Highden is not

 

For people who know  the answers. Here, we attempt to live the important questions.

 

Highden is

 

A state of being and consciousness. The physical location is a beautiful and sacred place where this state of consciousness is currently being embodied and expressed.

 

Highden is not

 

Interested in the phenomenal side of the ‘New Age’. We are not interested in  UFO’s , conspiracy theories, abductions, channelling,  special personalities or special rocks. We are interested in the capacity to translate  subjective energy experience into practical service for humanity.
