THIRD PHASE OCCULTISM

I am specifically applying this term to the planned third phase of the teaching within the Trans-Himalayan tradition. This latter refers to the energetic inspirational stream behind a tradition of esoteric thought that bridges east and west and is principally espoused in the works of HP Blavatsky, A A Bailey, Helena Roerich, L Cedercrans and others.

Even in putting these names together I am aware that there are many within those sub groupings who would baulk at such an association. There are those within each sub stream of thought who fiercely maintain that one or other or all of the others are counterfeit or inferior. Even within one sub-stream - that of the Bailey tradition with which I am most familiar - there are countless sub groupings who remain subtely or openly critical of each other. Which all goes to show just how far this tradition still has to travel if it is to demonstrate to humanity that living principle of brotherhood which lies behind and inspires it.

Of course this tradition is not alone in its factionalism - all traditions share in it becasue it is a function of mind or the mental plane to separate and fixate. Third phase occultism is designed to lift the inquiring soul, in group formation, out of the mind altogether through contact with the monad or the life aspect which lies behind and empowers the soul. This contact brings about the experience of synthesis - a synthesis that is not created but exists prior to and lies behind outer differentiation.

The buddhic functioning now becomes stable and from this plane of 'pure reason' the outer diversity is seen for what it truly is - the dance of the one life. The ahamkaric self is released as the soul disinvests itself of identification with the three worlds ( including mind ). The soul, group conscious and aware of its ashramic affiliations and responsibilities still operates in the three worlds but this operation is now freed from the gordian knot of identification with any outer organisation or teaching. This freedom of the psyche leads to freedom from psyche and allows for a greater power and effectiveness on the physical plane.

It is said that the energy of Shamballa 'puts one in one's place' and simplifies the life. In third phase occultism seeking ends, 'devious introspection' ends, outer ambition ends - they are all swept away in the great tide of Life. Individuals and groups simply get on about their Father's business - driven not by any affiliation, promotion or defense of outer organisation but as an embodiment of the living energy of Organisation, one of the three energies of Shamballa. This Organisation already IS and does not need to be created, merely experienced and lived..

Synthesis is not unity. It is not produced by all the various outer groups coming together, creating an umbrella organisation, a common constitution and appointing someone president. If it could be created by man it would be in man's power to destroy and that is fortunately not the case.

Third phase occultism is about many things - there are teachings, practices and potencies - but above all its validity will express itself in a demonstration of BROTHERHOOD. We , the different streams of one living traditon are a project that is nearing completion - a project designed by Hierarchy to demonstrate a principle - the principle that they themselves embody.

Brotherhood is a word that clumsily clothes a living essential reality that lies at the synthetic core of the trans-himalayan tradition. This living essence is in the very life breath that animates all its branches, organs, muscles and cells. We do not create it but we can do what we can to cleanse ourselves of all that impedes the flow of this life force. The Spirit of Synthesis is not confined to our tradition - it is at work everywhere throughout the planet and I do believe that the esoteric community has a rare opportunity ahead of it - not only to experience this synthesis within its expression but also through synthesis to experience its true value and place within Humanity as a whole.

The third phase is also about a willingness to form a relationship through identification with the first aspect energy of Will and Power. Power is often shunned by those who have developed the love principle or the soul because the two energies are seen as a polarity and the abuses of power by those lacking in love is apparent in our recent planetary history. If brotherhood is the breath of our community then HEART is its blood because it is only in the heart that the two aspects of power and love come together and the second becomes a channel for the first. The heart is an organ of fire.. The Christ returns with a sword. Hierarchy externalises. How can any of this be possible unless we, as souls, as part of the Christ life, lift our invisible fingers into the current of elctric fire and with our visible fingers take a firm grip on the reigns.

SO along with the esoteric processes that accompany this adventure into the third phase we can also look for the outer signs - the spirit of brotherhood flowing through our community and the moving into positions of power and authority in our world of those with a developed heart.
